The Lady Bulldogs beat Deer Lakes High School in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Class AA volleyball playoffs 3-1 October 25, 2016 at Our Lady of Sacred Heart. This advances the girls to the first round Thursday where they will be at third-seeded Avonworth at 7:30 PM.

All four sets were close, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, and 26-24. Kennedy Kuhns (17 kills) and Kinlee Whited (15 kills) led the team with strong net play. MacKenzie Crile had 35 assists and Frankie Pryor had 15 digs.

In the first set, the Lady Dawgs ran off six consecutive points and held the lead to 20-16. The Lady Lancers brought the deficit to 24-23, and Kuhns with her seventh kill in the first scored the game winning point.

In the second, Beth Center tallied five of the final eight points from a 15-15 deadlock to take a 2-0 lead.

Deer Lakes led most of the third set and won 25-21.

It was back-and-forth in the fourth, with the win looking like it was going to go to the Lady Lancers, but the Lady Dawgs mounted an epic comeback with a 5-1 run at the end of the night for a 3-1 victory (final set 26-24)!

The game-winning point came from an acrobatic kill by Kuhns that found space on the other side to take the Lady Bulldogs to the first round.
